.: Nothin much :.

Not much went down... Yesterday was D&D. It's definately slowing down for me, I'm losing the entertainment from it. Today was a LAN party that didn't suck. Yay! We played the same old CS & SC. That was it, that I was there for... I showed up late as always because I had to get a Meningitis shot at 11, and doctors are always slow. Then Mom made me help her stuff envelopes and put stamps on things for my graduation announcements... I don't know why it is that every time that somethings going on that only happens once every month or so, my parents decide to plan something on top of it. Even though I tell them in advance, they always plan something on top. *sigh*

Also, my good friend Becky linked me to an interesting little web RPG ish thingy... It's not easy to explain, but it is pretty fun. Anyway, if you want to help me out, just click here. By clicking that you can get me some money, just for clicking, and also if you sign up, I get money. Even more money if you level up. So yeah. Click the link. Please. >.>

.: Birthday :.

Well, I'm 18 now. I got some college stuff that I'll need: things like quarters, towels, and... Hmm... Thats it. I got some UIUC clothes, and they seem to be pretty nice. I'll probably wear them all the time. Besides the 25$, ($20 from my Kindergarten teacher who pwns, and still remembers me against all odds, and $5 from my grandparents) all I got was a set of poker chips and cards. I don't play poker. Ever. Fantastic! To add salt to the wound, I totally bombed a calculus quiz this morning, and didn't do awesome on the quiz in the next class... Forgot to talk to my teacher about a recommendation letter (and I don't have school tomorrow or Thursday because the Juniors are taking the ACT), so my mom is super pissed even still. She's been hounding me to get it, but I keep forgetting... Now I'm pretty much screwed. *sigh* I barely got enough money to pay for the hotel room for ACEN, and I hope to god my parents let me steal money from them for it, because otherwise I'll be there and have no money to do anything. I don't have enough money to buy any World of Warcraft time either. Looks like I'll need a job ;_;

Now that you're all informed of my lackluster birthday, take delight in the fact that the weekend was fun. After prom, which was extremely tiring, I went back to my date's house and spent the night with I'd guess six or so other people. Fell asleep around three o'clock while watching Napolean Dynamite (a movie that was dissappointing after all the hype). Saturday we watched more movies and played Wallyball at the local country club. Movies of the day include: A Series of Unfortunate Events (sucked) and Saw (which was good, for a horror movie). Saw, surprisingly, had very little to do with saws. After going home for the night, Sunday began with a long delay. Originally, we planned to meet at my date's house at approximately 12:30, only that was pushed back to one, and then even further to about two. Some of it related to people sleeping in, some of it was due to extreme tardiness. Following our eventual meetup, we drove to another person's house and then to LazerQuest about an hour away from here. We played about 20-25 minutes worth of Laser Tag, and then we went home to a bonfire. It was a lot of fun, dispite my being extremely sleepy afterwards. Ah well.

.: Some Thoughts :.

I realized I played too many computer games yesterday when my dad took me out to Sarah's house so we could plan with the rest of the group our plans for the weekend after prom (this Friday), and my first thought was Yeah, no lag. Luckily, I didn't say this aloud, or an awkward silence would have ensued.

A friend of mine, Ralph, apparently wrote a paper about evolution for no particular reason and handed it off to me at the end of the day. I took the time to read it, and it, like most of his papers, was somewhat serious, yet funny. It essentially ran down to making fun of religion as he tends to do, and especially mean to evangelical creationists. Not that I dissapprove, because if you're so unsure of yourself that you have to press your beliefs on other people you probably deserve to be bashed. I'm fine with other people believing what they want, it just rubs me the wrong way when they try to force you to believe what they do.

New topic... Birthday? Just seven days left. Allergies? Coming back. I thought I was doing so well too ;_;

Whew! I clicked a link my friend sent me, and it opened up a new tab on this window (the "Blog This!" button that I always use now). But, it didn't show the tab list so I couldn't figure out how to get back to this window. Luckily, after about 10 minutes of key pushing I found out that Ctrl Tab switches between tabs. Thats about all...

.: Boring :.

Well.... I finally decided to download Firefox & use it instead of my more favorite Mozilla. There are some things I don't like, like how tuned down the options menu is, like it was designed for people who don't know anything, and I had gotten used to typing something in the address bar & then hitting the down arrow key when I wanted to search for it, instead of putting it in a different part of the bar entirely. But it's nice. Loads pages tons faster than before, and it does have a nifty feature where you can load all pages in a folder of bookmarks in tabs at once. Really nice for my comics section, now I can do that and just close the ones that I've already seen.

I beat FreeSpace 2 this morning, a fun game from '99 that I was addicted to for about 3 days. But now that my WoW subscription is up, I have pretty much no games to play ;_; I suppose I could play some CounterStrike...

I've been watching more of Great Teacher Onizuka, which was the original plan. I figured that I would be bored out of my mind after my WoW subscription ended, so I downloaded it a while back. Now I'm episode 28 of 43, and it's still cool. There are some parts where I think I'd be the only person who's laughing, because of character personalities conflicting (which is probably the whole idea behind the show) leading to funny coincedences. I finished downloading Initial D yesterday, and I rewatched the first episode. The sub isn't too good, and it is obvious why, when it the person who did it comes up and it's just one person, not a group like KAA. But I can't really complain too much. I got it for the racing, not for the plotline. But, for all I know the plot rocks, I wouldn't know I've only seen the first episode.

My birthday's coming up, and I believe I'll use that in an attempt to get me more money for WoW. I'm surprised I didn't remember it in my last post... April 26, and it's comin' soon. I guess I forgot because it's starting to be routine... I'm expecting to be dissappointed, and given things that I'm not interested in, or that will last only a short while before being broken. Happens all too much... I remember getting an inflatable chair for Christmas about 5 years ago, and within a week it had a hole. It's still sitting in my closet, waiting a patch. It's a shame, it was a nifty chair. Come to think of it, I'll probably be getting mostly stuff useful in college... Clothes basket, detergent, quarters...

I had a nice dream this morning... I dreamt my dad actually bought me nice computer parts... An AMD 64, new motherboard, video card that was made within the past two months... Ah, tis a shame I was only dreaming.

.: Well :.

Not much really has been going on... Still screwed in calculus... I took the test that was on Senpai's blog and came up with some interesting results...

Your Linguistic Profile:

85% General American English

10% Yankee

5% Upper Midwestern

0% Dixie

0% Midwestern

I find it odd that I speak 10% Yankee and 0% Midwestern, considering I've lived in the midwest all my life, and I assume Yankee is some sort of Northeastern speak perhaps.

I hosted D&D today, went pretty well. I'm down 8 liters of soda between seven of us, in addition to about six 12 oz. cans that they brought with them. I don't know why we haven't died of sugar overdose yet. My WoW subscription ended today. Haven't played it in a few days either, so I'm sure I have something in my mailbox that I won't be able to get to anymore... Oh well. When I get a job I'll buy some more time. I wish it was just 12.99 or maybe even 11.99$ a month, they have over 1.5 million users, I think by now they've made their money back... Then again, they also have lots of servers, which definately are costly... Ah well. I'll still pay.

.: Good news bad news :.

Excessive whining ahead!

Well, there was a LAN party today. Only... it wasn't reall much of a LAN. Seriously, these things are losing value. I go to a LAN party expecting to play games, but we played so much other random junk... Magic, football, 500... Not that they weren't fun, but I sure didn't need to take apart my computer and move it around (god knows it hates it anyway) to play 500 or Magic. Next time there's a LAN party, I demand we play only LAN games. Demand. No playing RO at a LAN party. That is not what it is for. Period.

That was both the good news and the bad news, so on to regular life. I have 6 days of World of Warcraft left before I can't play (no money). I'd pay more, but I seriously need every penny I have now. I need to get $50 to Pat, I need new headphones (mine broke yesterday night, although they were free and lasted two years so I'm ok with it), and I really want to get a whole new computer. My CD drives are failing on me (they were free too after rebates...), and the rest of it (except for my new harddrive & peripherals) is at least two years old. Also, unless you play around with the monitor enough, it will shade the entire screen in a different color. I've had many different colors before including: red, yellow, purple, green, and shades between. I'm hoping to get a nice, large LCD monitor (19"?) with at least 70Hz refreshes both vertical & horizontal. Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty fast (although 1.8GHz is slow by today's standards), and it still works, so I can live with it for a while longer... I just don't want to.

As I mentioned, my headphones broke. This opens up some new options... Obviously, I need new ones. I can listen on older headphones that haven't broke yet, but they naturally suck. Also, they don't go behind my head, and I really love that kind. The ones I'm currently using have a cable that's too short so it goes right over my keyboard, making it semi annoying to type. Again, I can live with it, but I don't want to. Therefore, I need new ones. The question: should I get super expensive (when I get money, that is--I can wait for a while I suppose) headphones that cover your entire ears so you can't hear anything else and the quality is amazing, or should I get some $20-30 headphones with a mic attached somehow? I'll obviously need money for either solution, seeing as I have about $35 currently, and ACEN is going to cost me another $50 (that I'm giving to Pat, hence I owe Pat $50).

College bad things: Hendrick House is now full. Because I was a FUCKING IDIOT I didn't preregister. Now I don't even have a place to live while I'm down there. I don't have the housing registration forms either, so I don't know what the hell I'm going to do. I think I'll be forced to email them and ask them what the heck I'm supposed to do because I was such an idiot. Dammit. Also, I need lots more money to pay for UIUC. I think I'll be forced to take out a loan, go through the first year there, work the entire time, hope I keep up B average at least, and then pay it all back over a summer or something. I don't like that idea at all though, because I hate the idea of owing somebody else money who's going to charge interest on me. I'm a pretty cheap guy, and I like to save my money when I can. I blame that on my parents for never giving me an allowance when I was little. To be fair, I would probably have bought a bunch of stuff that now I would hate and trash though. If I had somehow thought of keeping all that money & then later getting something amazingly awesome, though...

.: Meh :.

Well, not really all too much has happened...

LAN party went ok, there was only a little bit of Counter-Strike, as I predicted. We did play StarCraft for a long time, though. To my dismay, we played only one other game: Diablo II. Well, I played WoW while they were playing StarCraft because I didn't have it installed at the time, and I figured by the time I finished reinstalling they'd be done playing, so it wasn't worth it. Turns out I had it installed but no registry for it, (because I reinstalled Windows a few weeks ago...) so I could have played, but oh well.

I've got an english essay that was originally due Friday pushed to Monday so I'm ok there... As a different part of that same project, I had to memorize 64 lines of Shakespeare by today over two days. I thought I had it down but I ended up messing up at least 5 times, so that wasn't good. But it was from a funny scene (3.2) and a lot of people still laughed so that was good. I dunno, my English teacher said I did a good job and that he knew most of my lines were hard so he'll take that into consideration, but I think he was just being nice. Even if I do get a B I don't really mind, I'm confident my grade is stable enough for me to not have to take the final this semester. So thats good.

Today I went out with a few of the D&D crew to the local Marcus Theatre's and saw Sin City... It's a very, very good movie. I really think that the black and white thing was an excellent touch and gave the movie a personality. There was some nudity (nothing below the belt) and a lot of blood, but it's mostly done in a manner thats different than you would normally see, in that they typically switch to a camera style that's computer generated & only a black & white outline of the figure, with blood flowing out in the same color that the character is drawn in. It's really hard to describe. I really like it. I figured with Quentin Tarantino's name attached to it it'd be horribly gory and really disgusting but it wasn't. (I hated the first Kill Bill because it was way too over the top) It had an amazing plot, and all the hero's play exactly like a comic book hero, in that they take hits but keep ticking with no problem. I also really liked how you knew what all the characters were thinking (because it was originally done as a comic book), so you'd hear them narrorate what was going on in their heads at certain times. It was very good. Also, Frodo is a cannabilistic killer. And his sunglasses rock. If I was given the chance, I'd go watch it at least once more, probably more.
