.: I hate it when I do this :.

Don't you hate it when you finish one project at the last minute, only to realize that you have yet another project that needs last minute finishing, too? I do.

My speech went off without a hitch yesterday, surprisingly. It was a group speech, and one member didn't show up, but we were still on time and such. We'll see what kind of grade I get.

The next last minute project needing finishing is an essay about watching some little kid or another (not particular in who) for child psych. Of course, I don't have a little kid or another to watch, so it's time to BS the whole thing. Luckily, I talked about it at work today and the girl I was basically stuck next to the entire night babysat a 9 year old yesterday. So she told me about him and I took notes as best I could. Then, at the end of the night, I forgot to take the notes home with me. So... Tomorrow morning somebody is going to get to the returns desk and be like, what the fuck? I remember most of what she told me about him, I just won't have quotes that he said. Which is alright, as I can just make those up anyway, I'm sure she didn't remember them verbatim to begin with.

Haven't been getting much sleep lately, mostly just because I've been so busy. I can't wait for the next vacation... I need some time off to just sleep in late and not do anything.

Went down to UIUC last weekend. Saw most of the people I wanted to see, missed a few. Wish I could have seen some others. I still need to do the math on the MPG I got on the way down, I'm curious. Traveling roughly 85mph at 3,700RPM... Roughly 18.8MPG. Not too shabby, considering my optimum RPM is 3,000. Time before that, street driving, I filled up and got about 24MPG, so I guess if I was to actually obey the speed limit I might get better milage? I'd do another experiment to find out but that would be so boring. :P I even hit it up to 100MPH for a short bit, just to see if I could do it. I can, and still have more space between the pedal and the floor, so I know I didn't top it out. And it was pouring. Yay dangerous!

I was kinda expecting that drive down there to get my desire to speed out of the system, but it just made it worse: now I think going 60 in a 45 is slow. :P I think I'm getting to be a better driver though. Need to work on my break timings, but I accelerate more smoothly now, I think. Not that it matters in an automatic car... Turn smoother too.

I think my next car will be manual. I think it'll be a lot more fun that way. I spend enough time as it is in my car, I think that could at least keep things interesting. As it is I have a hand on the gearshift all the time, just to get in the habit for when I do get a manual car. I figure, why add one more thing to the list of things I'd have to learn when I get it?

Let's see... at work, Mary came back last Tuesday I think. Still haven't seen her though. She works more or less morning shifts, and she's always gone an hour before I get there at least. I think this is the last week we're keeping garden open. Too cold and theres nothing really out there to buy anymore anyhow.

My phone contract I think ends pretty soon... Within a month or so. I think for now I'll hold out on buying a new phone til I can get my hands on a Samsung i450. Hopefully that won't be too long. But we'll see, maybe I'll see another cool phone that seems interesting. Hopefully that i450 isn't too insane...

Need to get to that last minute project before I don't do it...

.: Speech :.

Every time I procrastinate to the last minute, I tell myself, "Never again!" Then, the next time I can, I do. I'm so pro. So... Procrastinated on this speech, needed 2 book sources and one internet source, and for it to be 4-6 minutes. Came up with more than enough sources, and the speech was longer than 6 minutes. I managed to speak slowly and clearly, without making toooooo many mistakes, as well. Problems lie in that I think I was reading my note cards more than I was reading the audience, so to speak. We'll see, think I might get a good grade.

I'm excited to realize that the Orange box drops on Wednesday. I wonder how backlogged Steam is going to be. Kinda upset, circuit city is selling it for 38 I think, so I basically paid $7 to be in the beta for TF2 for about two weeks and not get DVDs. But, at least Portal will finally be playable.

I beat Metroid Prime 3: Corruption the other night, I think last Friday. It was good. Short, (18 hours at a slow pace) but still good. It's gotten a lot simpler, I wonder if the next Metroid is going to go back to the GCN style and allow more weapons. Still never got around to beating Zelda. I moved my Wii upstairs, and now it actually connects to the wireless, which is cool. Got a reason to use my TV again, too. Maybe one day I'll get around to beating Kingdom Hearts, so I can play the second one. Just need to grind it out, which is boring and why I haven't yet.

I was playing around with Linux again the other day. Got Ubuntu working again, sometimes. Sometimes it has trouble deciding which monitor to use (since both my TV and monitor are hooked up) and decides it can't see either. Not sure how to fix it. When it was working it was cool. Desktop effects worked. Not sure the purpose of using it over Windows, yet, since I can't effectively torrent, nor play games. Was playing media fine though. A fun side experiment, I suppose. Gave me a run for my money for a bit when GRUB installed wrong and almost kept me from being able to boot into Windows, but I figured that out and fixed it. I'm going to be screwed when I need to get to Windows without the other harddisk though... Workarounds are only temporary, afterall. Wonder if I can clean GRUB from the other effectively...

Overall I think I'm feeling a little better.

Started watching Death Note yesterday while being an expert at procrastinating. Great show, from the four episodes I've seen so far. It's interesting to note the similarities between it and Code Geass. In both shows, high school seniors stumble onto super massive power, and in both casses use it to attempt to conquer the world in their own way. Both shows are excellent, and make prime use of the fact that the kids are geniuses. Worth watching if you can find the time.

Picked up on Pandora again, got tired of listening ot my playlist on shuffle and every other song being DM. I like DM, but not that much, at least not anymore. I probably will never get around to listening to the rest of the 1054 tracks I have by them. I've so far enjoyed filtering my hardcore station pretty extensively. I'm still having trouble figuring out exactly what "Chill (Upbeat)" means, in order to properly filter it. The terms are more or less contradictory, and it really ends up being a moderate BPM trance station instead. I found out I need to find some Dougal & Gammer, though. Not sure the best place to look.

Adion is currently listening to: nothing

Sidenote: Penny-Arcade has been really funny recently. Perhaps I need to reward them with a purchase...
