.: Lately :.

Lately I've been feeling like I need to write a story again. I've been reading so much fiction in entirely different worlds that are so fully developed I've been contemplating the idea of writing my own. I have a map drawn on graph paper, now I'm working on naming places. I'm wrapping my head around one section of the world for now, trying to plot out exactly how the average person should think, what kind of names are common in that area, legends and myths, important people, unimportant people, inns and stores, common symbols... the list goes on that I can think of that I should be thinking about. And that's just for one country, I plan on having about five or maybe six.

Then the fun part comes, after all that is done. Making characters worth following around. Conflicts should come easily with that much detail, the question of the time frame and how serious of conflicts I want will come later. Do I want the main characters fleeing an all powerful lord for something? Do I want some greater power involved trying to rope them into doing things? Perhaps they stumble upon some "legend" and find themselves in trouble. All of the above?

I've also been contemplating letting a few friends of mine play it as a D&D campaign. I think it could turn out to be very interesting. I plan to have almost nothing like it is in real life, right down to days of the week being named differently. Perhaps one race of the people only operate during the night? So many possibilities!

In other news... I've watched a whole lot of anime recently. Getting back into the swing of that I guess. I'm starting up Kenshin, against my own judgment because the show is so long it will take forever to finish it. But it is a good series so far, and I'm only on maybe episode nine. I started watching another new show that's currently being aired too, Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo ("The Girl Who Leapt Through Space", although Sora means sky, it's about space and is translated as such elsewhere). Mostly because the title is so close to my favorite anime's title, "Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo" ("The Girl Who Leapt Through Time"). I just finished Wangan Midnight (racing!), and many of the other shows I've been watching have seemed to stall while I wait for releases.

I was reading Dogentricks I believe when I found a link to a tricking video featuring a song by Ratatat, and ended up getting their discography. Really engaging stuff, I wish I had better sound equipment. The official video is... interesting. Hah.

.: Fixes :.

Got around to fixing some broken things. The last.fm widget has been broken for a while... They apparently changed the code for that pretty dramatically so I just got a new one. I also took out links that were on the side for stuff I don't really think I should be linking to anymore. Like... the Tabula Rasa webpage. My hope for that died with the beta more than a year ago. If I was supremely unlazy I'd probably put up new links to webcomics that I do read, but that would take some work.

I thought the Pandora thing was broken too, and I was going to go fix it by getting code again like I did at last.fm but instead I got to listening to it. Forgot how awesome it is. Kinda sad they're being screwed over with the whole internet radio royalty thing. :(
